2014 a year of Change

Wow, that went by fast... good-bye 2013. Last year, like every year, brought about so much promise and felt fresh. I was just getting comfy when - BAM! new year!

Last year I proclaimed that 2013 would be the year of DO! I'm proud to say I have lived up to and have done a lot. Here are some of my proudest moments from 2013

Last year when I discovered a cute little coffee shop around the corner from my house, I asked the owner, Callie if she’d consider having a Craft Night there. I have been doing it once a month ever since. Its a lot of fun and it's an excuse to get creative with my friends. I hope to carry craft nights into the New Year for as long as I can.

This past year I also did something I never thought I would do, I ran a 5k! It wasn’t just any 5k though, it was a Zombie Race. It was so much fun and I’m glad my lazy butt did something that physical.

Around July Scholastic put out a challenge to libraries around the country to send in an essay explaining what their ultimate Harry Potter event would be. I teamed up with the Teen librarian, Erin. We wrote an essay that was so awesome that we were one of 15 libraries to win the top prize! We had a grand old party and it was so much fun. This was one of my proudest moments of the year.

Now that 2013 is over I have some pretty exciting things ahead of me in 2014! This year's mantra is Change! There will be lots of changes in 2014.

Last year I grew the blog a bit, so this year's efforts are all about my little Etsy shop. The shop is doing ok but it needs some more TLC.

I was saving this old jar and decided to start documenting the year. I slapped some chalkboard paper on there (so that it can be re-used each year) and wrote 2014 on it. Every time something special happens we write it down and add it to the jar. Then next New Year's Eve, we'll read through all of the accomplishments of the year.

Stick around and you'll be witness to all of the crazy things that 2014 will bring.

Hello 2013, nice to meet you!

Well guys, its  a new year which means new beginnings and all that jazz. I am usually that person that makes resolutions and then by the second week in January I say to myself 'resa-what?' and the dream of a fresh start is over. However this year I reorganized my craft room (for the billionth time) and I am hoping to stay on task this year! I don't have anything to distract me!
Jennifer at Grits and Moxie had a post about the New Year. She summed up her goals in one word. I liked this idea so I starting thinking about my one word that would become my mantra for the year. So here is what I came up with:

No more being lazy, no more procrastination, just shut up and DO! I guess the wise Yoda was in the back of my head, "There is do or do not. There is no try."
You will be glad to hear that so far I have been DOING! I have been working on some new Tutorials! (sorry the page is temporarily disabled - work in progress) I am also hoping to inject more librarian stuff  this year. I spent the day organizing my task managers, what do you think?
I also going to be participating in IRON CRAFT 2013! This is something that Just Crafty Enough has done last year and it looked like a lot of fun. I was too intimated to try it last time but I think this is my year! Every Wednesday a challenge will be posted and participants have two weeks to complete the task until reveal day.

Now if you will excuse me I have some work to DO!

Good-bye 2012

Wow, can't believe this year is over in less tan 24 hours. It was certainly one for the record books. All my life I always felt like I was working towards something, I would tell myself "just get through this and then your life can start" well I felt like this year my life finally started.

This was the year I set foot on another continent! This was the year I chopped off all of my hair! This was the year I ended student status! This was the year I felt that I am truly home! This was the year of growth, change and opportunity. This was the year that was different then any of the other previous years because this year I took life and savored every single moment of it!

Aside from this year being pretty epic personally, it was also I year I got more serious about sewing and blogging. I made some new friends, like Michele! I have also been pushing my self by trying some new techniques and crafts, thanks to Craftsy and Whimsey Box. I plan on furthering both my craft skills and networking skills in 2013.

2012 is certainly one for the record books and I am sad to see it go. 2013 are you up to the challenge of being as epic?
