Last year I got some of my friends candles from Bubble & Geek and they smelt so good that I debated keeping them for myself! Hopefully this will help give you some holiday ideas!

Geek Pride Day!!!!
Hello there! As you know I wear my nerd flag pretty much everyday, but today is about being extra proud of nerdness because its Geek Pride Day!
I'll never forget the first time my older brother sat me down when I was little and said, "I'm going to show you this movie you should watch. It's called Star Wars." I've been in love with it ever since. Then fast forward to Junior High when I saw a friend reading Harry Potter. "Pssh, what are you doing reading a kids book?" I teased her until she said "don't knock it until you read it." I called her bluff and not only fell in love with Harry Potter but reading as well. I love loving these things. There's something about fandom's that get you excited and makes you wish you could live in the fantastical world of your favorite characters. I'm proud of my Nerdness and I share it with you today!
I'm celebrating over at my Etsy shop. Enter the discount code GEEKPRIDE at check out and you will get 10% off any listing! The code expires next Saturday, so stock up!
I'm also celebrating by compiling a list of my favorite geek related things that have happened in recent history!
D n' Doin' it! Dungeons and Dragons
Double Doctors!
Who fans have been anticipating nothing but epic for Doctor Who's 50th anniversary. From last week's season finale we have a few ideas about the special, but of course its shrouded in mystery. I almost had a freak out though when it was announced that David Tenant (Doctor # 10) and Billie Piper (Rose Tyler) signed on. Moffat even teased whovians with this pic! I added some romantic flair to it. We have to wait till November for the big special but it will certainly be worth it!
Diagon Alley announced at the Wizarding World
In February I made my second pilgrimage to the Wizarding World at Universal Stuidos. I was super excited to see that on a bridge leaving Hogsmeded there was construction! Since the park opened there has been speculation of an expansion. It was recently officially announced that Diagon Alley is opening in 2014! I was thrilled because even though the Wizarding World is amazing, super detailed and is any Potter fan's fantasy, it needed Diagon Alley! (or as I like to call it Diganilly)
J.J. Abrams signs on to direct the new Star Wars Trilogy
When I saw the Star Trek reboot in 2009 I was blown away. I thought to myself, this is the reboot Star Wars needed and deserved, not those horrible things I will pretend don't exist. After Disney bought the rights to Star Wars I thought it was inevitable that a new trilogy would come out. I was curious to see who was going to do it and glad that its not George Lucas. I thought it definitely couldn't be Abrams, he was already invested in another franchise with 'Star' in the title. Then in a total surprise move, he announced that it's happening with him at the helm. This Star Wars fan mind was blown and super excited! Hopefully there isn't too much lens flare.

Dice Bag
| Here is a glimpse of our D & D adventures! |
If you also want your own snazzy dice bag just follow this tutorial and you'll have a sweet new dice bag in no time.
Materials & Tools
- Fabric A (exterior)
- Fabric B (lining)
- Drawstring (yarn also works)
- Ruler
- Tailors chalk (or any other tool for marking)
- Scissors
- Safety pin
- Sewing notions
- Cut the body part of the bag. Take both fabric A and B and cut your size. I made them 5 X 11 inches
- Cut bottom of the bag. Make a circle out of both fabric A and B. I made my circle have a 3 inch circumference.
- Take fabric A and measure in inch from the top make a mark then another mark a half inch from the other mark. Fold your peice in half, pin and sew along the edge (with a 1/4 inch seam allowance). You will leave a hole on the marks you had just made. This is where the drawstring will be fed threw. Just do this step for fabric A!
- For fabric B and fold in half and sew along the edge (with a 1/4 seam allowance)
- You made a little tubes, congrats! Now take the circle part, pin and sew to the bottom of your bag for both fabric A and fabric B.
- Turn fabric A inside out then place it inside fabric B, pin around the edge and sew, but leave a hole about 2 inches.
- After sewn up, but the bag inside out through the 2 inch hole. You can press your bag so it looks crisp and nice.
- Before you insert the string you need to sew another little line (under the open hole) this will help keep the string in place. So start underneath that open hole and sew around the bag.
- Now we insert the drawstring! Take a safety pin and attach it to one end of the string and feed it through the hold until it goes around the bag. You can cut and adjust your string as desired. Give it a pull and see how you bag is now a drawsting sack thing!
- Ta - da! Be proud you made something fantastical!

Sunday Snapshots
This week has been fun filled!
Monday night I hosted another craft night at Crazy Beans! This time around we crafted up some tile coasters. Lots if people came and it was a blast. You can get all the details here.
Earlier in the week I did some gypsy torture, which consists of dressing her in ridiculous things. She's an adorable little bean.
Tim our dungeon master asked me to make a pouch for our collection of dice. I looked at a few for reference and I did some experimenting and came up with this!
That night we had another go on our adventure. My friends joe (Kodiak) and Laura (oak lore) kicked some serious goblin butt and we finished our first encounter. It looks like we are bored and half asleep, but I asure you we had a lot of fun.

Catching up & Iron Craft # 4
So I have been a bit lax with blogging as of late. I needed to take a little breather because pesky responsibilities have gotten in the way. Here is what I have been up to lately...
You guys know I am a nerd but I now have earned some more nerd cred. This past Friday a group of my friends and I played our first game of Dungeons and Dragons. Tim, the Dungeon Master has been pouring over the books for the past month. It was fun figuring out all of our characters. Our friends are just out right ridiculous people (that I love) so it made for an entertaining evening. My friend Joe was really excited about his barbarian character, Kodiak, who loves axes. I was inspired to do a little doodle and this is what I came up with. I am going to try and eventually doodle all of our characters.
This past week I received my latest whimsey box full of craftacular wonders! I got stuff to make a memo board. I painted the wood block, but used a cloth to gently paint it. I felt like experimenting and I tried to paint it so the wood grain would show through. You can kind of see it but it came out fine. I used the washi tape that came in the box (big fan of washi tape) then I mod podged it down to adhere to the wood. The rubber bands then hold the note pad in place.
Last week was another Iron Craft reveal day! Michele came over and we made some magic in the craft dungeon. The latest challenge was inspired by award season and crafters were given the task to create something inspired by movies or TV.
A few weeks ago I had gotten this pretty sweet Marvel Comics fabric from Joann's Fabrics and I have been making some tablet cases with it. I have been ending up with some scraps and since this fabric is so cool I wanted to find ways to utilize every piece I can! So headbands seemed like the perfect project! Also the Avengers was one of my favorite movies from the past year so I was glad to end up with an Iron Man head band.
Michele came over and used some scraps from my Star Wars fabric and made her own headband! It was also her first close encounter with a sewing machine and she did really good!
