Sunday Snapshots

Last week something exciting happened at work. When I drove into down it was unusually hopping. What the flip was going on? Apparently Jonah Hill was in town filming a movie. He came out to greet some onlookers. I however was at work. I'm not one to get star struck anyway. After I got off worked I walked around town because I was curious. By then filming had wrapped up however I was excited to see that the library was included in the signage for filming.

Speaking of being star struck, this only happened to me once. In the 90s my family would often go camping at Woodstock. In 1999 they had a big celebration concert (not like that famous commercialized MTV one where riots broke out, my brother Charlie went to that one). My Dad had a friend who worked on generators and he gave us all access passes. It was pretty sweet. I met Joanie Mitchell, Joey Ramone and the Goo Goo Dolls (I really loved them back then). One of the people that was super nice to us and talked to us the most was Richie Havens. I had no idea who he was at the time  but he was super nice. We saw him perform and it was pretty amazing. When I heard about his passing this week, it brought up that Woodstock memory.

So I had this ugly clock in my room. It was just too blah. So I decided to take it apart and do something about it. I thought it was appropriate to make it Timey Wimey, so its going to be a Doctor Who clock.

This clock project also let me put my new toy to use! For years I have always wanted a die cutter. We use them at the library and its pretty cool. The only downside is that its super expensive and I would want to create my own designs. I didn't know there was such a tool until someone mentioned the silhouette on a blog. I have intrigued but not sold yet. My friend Noelle has one and on a visit to her house she showed me all of the decorative things she had made. Ok I was sold, I needed one! So far I love my cameo and you can expect more silhouette related posts!

I've needed new glasses for a while and just put it off because of the expected cost. However Coastal.com seemed to know of my dilema because I saw their ads all over the place claiming that the your first pair of glasses with them is free. So I figured I would check it out. I was able to get this pair of Geek Chic beauties and all I paid was $ 16 bucks. They also came pretty quickly and came with a nifty glasses cleaning kit!

Tim is a grown man with his very own lego collection. While doing some cleaning I found some lego guys he thought were M.I.A. I had some fun playing mixing and patching their accessories. I put some swoop hair on Han Solo and dubed him, Han Brolo. Enjoy...

Sunday snapshots.....

Hello everyone. Welcome to another Sunday. Hope you had a lovely week! Here is mine at a glance....
Monday night I hosted another craft night at Crazy Beans. It was fun and we drank butterbeer (it was magical) You can read all about craft night and learn to make stamps here.

I have been trying my best to run frequently and not be a lazy bones. I downloaded a few apps to help out. Then my friend Morgan told me about Zombies, Run! The premise is this: You are Runner 5 for Abel Township and you go out on missions collecting supplies all the way. (like Glen on the Walking Dead) It tracks your movements and they'll pipe in telling you when to run real fast because a zombie horde is nearby! Its a lot of fun and my first time I was knee deep in fresh undies.

I really love my Batman bookmark. So much so I decided to photo document it. Tim received a bunch of D.C. themed book marks with cheesy little sayings. Batman is my favorite because this just looks ridiculous. He is perched high a top Gotham and he thinks to himself, "You know this is a great time to break out 50 Shades." Maybe its because he's embarrassed to been seen reading such a saucy book.

I live right near the water, but I never realized how close it actually is. I took Gyspy for a walk (which she freaks out over!) and we kept walking through the neighborhood until - BAM! is a bluff with an amazing view of the Long Island sound. I'm pretty lucky have something like that within walking distance. Last night we tried looking for the Northern Lights, but we were not successful  I blame the neighbor who keeps their porch lights on ALL OF THE TIME!

Friday was a very dreary day. Despite the rain I went and walked around to make a stop at Starbucks. I needed a little pick me up.

Sunday Snap Shots

Yay its Sunday again! I another fun filled week. Let me tell yas all about it. Its another link up so feel free to add your link and check out what everyone else is up to!

Last weekend Tim came across some information on terrariums. So he decided to make one with some succulent plants. It looks really nice and it looks great on our coffee table.

While Tim was making terrariums, I was working on some pillows. Laura and I went to a discount fabric store and stocked up on fabric. I bought some stuff to work on bags and make some new pillows for the couch. After I made the first pillow it was really 'Blah' so I decided to paint some arrows on it to spiff it up. What do you think?

The past weekend we got something pretty awesome, a fooseball table! It was a dream realized for Tim. I however am horrible at the game. It was a gift from my Mom's boyfriend. They have a tiny house and don't have room for it so they offered it to us. We also got a sweet new dart board, a nice upgrade from our crappy electronic one.

Laura got me hooked on a new app. Iconmania is an addicting fun app in which you have to use the visual clues to guess what it represents. I couldn't help but chuckle when this one came up. Did they really need to include the cigar ?

While listening to Doug Loves Movies one of the guests mentioned that he had a YA novel out. It caught my attention. The guests was comedian D.C. Pearson and the book is called Crap Kingdom. It's about a kid who is upset about how normal his life is and yearns for a miserable existence so that he can be taken to a magical world and be its phrophesized hero. To his surprise he does get taken to a magical world but its kinda...crappy. Its really funny and you should check it out.

This week also marked the first day of Spring. YAY! I took Gyppers on her first walk of the season. She was very excited. It was nice to get some fresh air. Unfortunately it didn't last long! The next morning we woke up to more snow!

Sunday Snapshots - Link Party!

Hello there friends! Its another Sunday!

We stopped by Tim's brother's house and spent some time with our niece  Lexie. She's at a really fun age and all she wants to do is play. She was having tons of fun with Uncle Tim.

Our supply of fizzing whiz-bees has been depleted. To avoid going through withdrawal I tried making some of my own! Look for the recipe coming soon.

It was another week of Iron Craft! On reveal day I showed off my fabulous bucket bag made out of scrap fabric. You can read more details about it here. I also met up with Michele and we started working on the next Iron Craft challenge, Peeps! We made some peep sushi. It looks better than it tastes.

When Michele came over, she came bearing gifts! She brought us some Starbucks K-cups of Casa Cielo. Its pretty amazing and its certainly my new jam.

I left my nails pretty bare for the last week and didn't plan on doing anything with them. Then my work bestie, Margaret told me about one of my little friends asking about me. There is a little girl that comes to one of my library programs all of the time. I always compliment her on her pretty nails and she does the same to me. When I wasn't there one day she came in and asked Margaret "Where's the lady with the pretty nails!" So I had to paint them for my little friend.

In a few weeks there is going to be a big Suess-a-bration at my library. One of the activities is going to be 'One Fish, Two Fish, Ring Toss' Here is how it came out!

This week I am inviting any other bloggers that would like to participate join the link up. Its open to everyone I just ask that you follow these simple rules:
  • Post a link to your blog
  • The post must contain at least three pictures with descriptions
  • Check out some of the other participants and comment
  • Follow your host, mwah, is not required but very much appreciated

a link party invitation

I am fully aware that today is not Sunday. Today I am giving you an invitation to a link party!

On Sunday I always recap my week in pictures. I feature stuff from the week that was interesting, including projects I am working on, good food, shopping scores or even silly things I do to my dog (she's really fond of costumes).

I invite anyone interested in joining the blog hop to join us this Sunday to add their blog! The only rule is that you link to a post featuring at least three pictures telling us how you week went. So start documenting your life!

Sunday Snapshots

This week has been fun filled!

Monday night I hosted another craft night at Crazy Beans! This time around we crafted up some tile coasters.  Lots if people came and it was a blast. You can get all the details here.

Earlier in the week I did some gypsy torture, which consists of dressing her in ridiculous things. She's an adorable little bean.

Tim our dungeon master asked me to make a pouch for our collection of dice. I looked at a few for reference and I did some experimenting and came up with this!

That night we had another go on our adventure. My friends joe (Kodiak) and Laura (oak lore) kicked some serious goblin butt and we finished our first encounter. It looks like we are bored and half asleep, but I asure you we had a lot of fun.

I also did some sewing for myself, I made this pretty infinity scarf. This project found me. They day before I found a Pinterest pin featuring this lace infinity scarf and I really liked it and tucked the idea away. I was browsing fabric and came across some lace and jersey fabric and I decided to go for it! I finished it just in time for a night out. It was my friend Laura's birthday and as a present I promised her a shopping spree at the fabric store and a day of crafts!

Sunday Snap Shots

Hello world! I know I have had a bit of a hiatus because of my little vaca. Since I really haven't been taking pictures this week here are some shots from my trip!

Before there was Gyspy, Rudy was the dog in my heart. It was fun to see him again because he likes to cuddle!

While in Gainsville Billy took us for gator tacos, however it was the fried mac and cheese appetizer that was the star of the dinner!

I had a lot of fun at my cousins wedding and based on this picture so did my mom. This is us cutting a serious rug. When the Electric Slide came on my Aunt Judy was like "this is my jam!" She proceeded to slide with cigarette and beer in hand.

Going to the Wizarding World was very giddy experience for me. I had one big smile on my face all day! I was lucky enough to do everything that I had wanted, including meeting the ladies of Beauxbatons and the gentlemen of Drumstrang.

Things are starting to get back to normal. Its always weird adjusting post vacation. I have a few things in the works and will keep you updated!

Sunday Snapshots

Hello there! I hope you all had a lovely week! Here are some highlights from mine!

I spent Super Bowl Sunday at my Brother & Sister in laws. While the dudes were watching the game I was reading with my little niece!

Speaking of reading, I started and am enjoying a new book! Bomb recently won Youth Media Award honor. I also signed up for a children's librarian book discussion for this book. Its non fiction, which I am not particularly fond of, however I am really loving Bomb so far.

I doing my first Mother Goose program soon. In preparation for it I made some dickey birds! (one named Soft, one named Loud. Can you guess who is who?

We had some snow earlier this week (pre-blizzard)... also some trespassers! I noticed these tiny footprints all over our porch. We have a couple of stray cats in the neighborhood. They usually cut through the backyard. Gyspy is not amused.

On another trip to Crazy Beans I tried a peanut butter latte. HOLY CRAP its amazing. I love this place more and more with each visit. Since I go there so frequently I am making it a point to try something different each time I go. I may have to repeat peanut butter latte though.

Michele came over for another crafter-noon. We were working on another Iron Craft Challenge. This time the theme is Hearts and Stars. Since we are near valentines day I went with hearts. We got some plates from the dollar store and decorated them with sharpies. Here is how mine turned out.

Sunday Snapshots !!!!!!

Well my friends here we are again, another Sunday. This week has been ok and pretty typical. Work, craft, sleep and repeat. Here is a look at my adventures for the week....

Wednesday was reveal day for the second Iron Craft challenge. The theme was orange so I decided to jazz up some ugly thrift store shoes. Not bad eh? You can read about it here and expect a tutorial this coming week!

I have been trying to maintain a steady gym routine and I have been doing OK. I enjoy doing cardio while listing to Songza. It is one of my most used apps! If you are not familiar, it is a streaming music app similar to Pandora, however playlists are created by people (not algorithms  and there are no commercials. I really love listening to NPRs workout mix. While I was on the treadmill 'Born to Run' came on and I couldn't think of a more appropriate time for that song to come on!

Last week I ran out of business cards! So I ordered some new ones. This time I ordered from Moo. The cards came out really nice and I was excited to have rounded corners! I also love that it came with a really neat carrying case with a divider for my cards as well as others. I also took this opportunity to do a slight redesign. What do you think?

So you guys should know that my new favorite place in town is Crazy beans. Tim and I attended Wednesday night's Bingo night. Sadly I did not get any Bingos but I did have a delicious butter beer! I also spoke to the owner Callie and asked if she would be interested in doing a craft night. She was excited about the idea and we booked a night! So if you live in the area and your free Monday February 11 at 7:00 you should come on by and check it out! Here is more info.

I had some nail fun this week. I haven't really been keeping up with nail care. It can be a real pain in the butt. Its a lot of work and for some reason mine never last for more than a few days. Anyway, I did some half moons with my new favorite color, mint green.

I also started playing around with screen printing again. Here is one in progress. I am going to try making some library totes and thought this design would be perfect.

On Friday I met up some of my friendos. We went to Patchouge, which is has been getting super nice and is turning into a super hip area now. We hung out at Hoptron Brewtique where I enjoyed some soda and delicious rosemary popcorn. At one point things got a little weird with Caitie Laura and I. I also loved that the bathroom signs of this place all at storm trooper heads for no real reason.

Sunday Snapshots (it was cold this week)

Hey guys! I hope you have had a good week! Here is what I have been up to!

Newsflash, it was really flipping cold in the North East! It the worst because its the kind of cold that makes you hurt no matter what you do. But its winter, its supposed to be cold.

I have really fallen in love with coffee recently (or is it an addiction?). However when I felt that I need a little something to nibble on while sipping my cup of joe. I thought about my grandma and the biscotti cookies she would make. My aunt gave the recipe to me so I tested it out and got delicious results!

Its another Iron Craft challenge. This one is all about orange! I was sure what to do so I took a trip to Savers for some inspiration. I came across some ugly flats and thought I'd try painting them. Here they are in progress.

I couldn't help but laugh when I noticed Tim stuck in a technology loop between the lap top, ipad and phone. He didn't realize how ridiculous this was until I snapped this picture.

Sadly, Gypsy does not want to go in the basement. I think she is afraid of stairs (because she's afraid of EVERYTHING!) But when I go down into my craft dungeon she knows and hides out in our bedroom. I just love when she creeps her head out when I leave. She's a dope.
